Christian Schools

Worldwide Christian Schools has been partner with Christian Reformed World Missions since 2000 to develop the professional development of Christian school teachers in the St. Petersburg area. Praise God that such an organization has been blessing us with financial support and professors' travel to help CRWM underwrite some of these efforts! Schools with ten years of prayer-filled, pioneering efforts to establish their schools have come against the most difficult realities that bring real threats to their continuing on:

St. Petersburg Christian Schools

A year of intensive involvement in the schools is aimed at developing deeper understanding of Christian faith integration in the various subjects of the school program. We are also active in facilitating donors who wish to help schools with operational costs and student subsidies.

Pearl Christian School is a one-hour commute in the suburbs. Teachers like to share their ideas by hosting model lessons for colleagues from other schools. Teacher Svetlana leads a 5th grade history lesson about Ancient Egypt and God's hand in history.
Natalia Gaiduk spends two days a week as our director of the local Christian Teachers' Association Rudy and Rita Bot from Abbotsford, British Columbia assisted 3 schools in building 20 classroom cabinets. Worldwide Christian Schools facilitated the gifts that allowed these schools to better equip their classrooms.
Fifth and sixth grade children at Pearl Christian School, on of two schools which receive School Sponsorship funds through WCS. Would you like to give families some tuition support? See WCS addresses below. We were very thankful to receive numerous curriculum packages from the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools – free of charge – for the teachers to glean ideas for enriching their Russian curriculum with Christian perspective. Summer Missions Team 2006 rebuilt the crumbling sidewalk leading to one of the schools with durable paving stones.

Ways we are serving the St. Petersburg Christian schools this year:

On December 15, 2006, John and Elaine De Jager co-sponsored with Worldwide Christian Schools the gathering of 12 Christian school teachers at the St. Petersburg Christian Library. Christian journalist Olga Kolisova, a member of the Union of Journalists, demonstrated her three books, and led a seminar entitled “Christian Approaches in Russian Literature classroom”. John shared his plans for partnership with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), and encouraged Gary and the teachers to invest themselves in the activities of the local Christian Teachers’ Association. During the supper hour and fellowship time, Gary presented a slideshow of the life of all 4 local Christian schools and scenes from teacher gatherings and their professional activities.

On October 31 and November 2, fifteen teachers spent days during the autumn break writing curriculum. We were very thankful to receive numerous curriculum packages from the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools – free of charge – for the teachers to glean ideas for enriching their Russian curriculum with Christian perspective. Worldwide Christian Schools sponsored the event, as teachers who participated were granted funds to purchase supplies and teaching materials to liven up their classrooms.

March 2006, Rita and Rudy Bot from Abbotsford, British Columbia spent 10 days with Gary and Galya building 20 bookcases which were distributed around three of the Christian schools. We thank all the donours who made contributions to the materials, and Worldwide Christian Schools for facilitating the “mini-work them.

CRWM’s Summer Missions Team 2006 finished up the carpentry job by making 40 doors to fix to the cabinets. In June 2006, they also rebuilt the crumbling sidewalk of one of the schools with durable paving stones. Thank you to all supporters of our SMP Team!

In the nearby town of Pushkin, a pastor was gifted this unfinished home from a new-Russian convert. Pastor Vladimir hopes to start a Christian school here in 2007. Partners in Learning president John deJager has contributed funds for the finishing of the building.
